The Ultraviolet Catastrophe at Geek Pop

When Darwin found a monkey bone It reminded him of Auntie Joan And he wondered if it just could be That apes are related to you and me.... The tree of life throws its branches wide But the ancient patterns Darwin spied No one had ever thought before we're All descended from a common ancestor. Cause genes mutate and vary traits In populations that replicate Only those that make you stronger or more sexyAre passed down to your progeny. Yes, Darwin found a monkey bone It reminded him of Auntie Joan And he wondered if it just could be That apes are related to you and me.... Dee dee dee dee dee dee dee Yes apes are quite like you and me We're from the same old family tree And Darwin was the one to see... Darwin's fossil record had a gap Some strange, pre-Cambrian mishap Evolutionary theory was open wide To opposition from the creationist side. Perplexed poor Darwin died unwise. 'Twas the 1950s, through schoolgirls eyes When the missing link of life was found Ediacaran fossil in quarried ground. Yes, Darwin found a monkey bone It reminded him of Auntie Joan And he wondered if it just could be That apes are related to you and me... Dee dee dee dee dee dee dee Yes apes are quite like you and me We're from the same old family tree And Darwin was the one to see...

If you asked what state of matter I'd really like to be, I could be solid as a rock, dependable you see, Or I could be a liquid, go-with-the-flow, Or a gaseous free-spirit, just go where I want to go. Chorus: But I think I'd like to be a plasma, because it sounds a lot more fun. I'd be out losing my electrons, or fusing in the Sun. I'd always be excited, though highly-charged you'll find. But I'm usually quasi-neutral when it comes to taking sides. Of all the states of matter, it's the plasmas that shine. (Well there are nice shiny metals, but we'll ignore that at this time). Plasmas are dynamic, they're colourful and bright, Fascinating, mesmerising.... Plasmas got it right. Chorus So what if I'm chaotic? Unpredictable? All right. I'm always energetic, and I'll brighten up your night!

I still remember that the sky was misty-grey And the leaves lay on the ground that autumn afternoon. You never realised the impression that you made, But, for me, your lecture ended far too soon. Sitting at the back, cradling my cup of tea I get quite a surprise when you walk in the room. You don't look much like other physicists to me And you speak with such command that we're all hooked on you. Chorus: Every word you say just makes me want you more. It's like I'm 17 again and you are 24. There's so much you could teach me and I'd like to find out more. I'm not really listening to anything you say 'Cause just being here with you it's hard to concentrate. But maybe later, if you come round to my place We’d have plenty of time to integrate. Chorus: Every word you say just makes me want you more. It's like I'm 17 again and you are 24. There's so much you could teach me and I'd like to find out more. I bet that you like doing the same old things as me We'll do the cryptic crossword and watch sci-fi on TV. I bet that you like climbing, will you come to Chamonix? With me? Instumental and chorus I still remember that the sky was misty-grey And the leaves lay on the ground that autumn afternoon. A fleeting visitor, you carried on your way Now my daydreams are all that I have left of you.
